Featured Jams, Vol. IV
Great mixes keep popping up on Jamglue. Here are some recent highlights:
Take Five is a classic jazz piece that’s now in the public domain. That means that talented pianists like akalin can freely distribute recordings of their own performances of it. This is ripe for remixing!
The Fire and Ice Prayer is a poem by Robert Frost that’s now in the public domain. As part of the LibriVox project, many people have submitted public domain recordings of themselves reciting the poem. This remix overlays several of their performances in a clever call-and-answer style.
This mix seems carefully crafted to make me laugh. It bears a simple message, hammered home persistently through slick edits over good background beats. But it’s also mysterious– to whom is this message addressed? What were the circumstances that inspired it? I’m eagerly awaiting a follow-up to this one, though it may raise more new questions than it answers.
