Call for Votes

As mentioned in our last post, our Submarines Remix Competition has been going on for over 2 weeks now, with another week to go! Our users have been working hard on their contest entries, and have come up with some fantastic remixes. As the contest draws to a close, please make sure you get a chance to vote for your favorite entries.

All you have to do is mark each mix you like as a “favorite” on Jamglue. You can do this by clicking the little triangle after the mix title, which will drop down an info box where you can can mark a favorite. You can also mark a favorite by visiting the mix page for each entry and clicking the star near the top right.

Vote for as many mixes as you want! Make sure you get all your votes in by January 6th.

And if you haven’t made a mix of your own yet, its not too late. Remember - the earlier you submit your entry, the more time it has to accumulate votes.

Good luck, and happy voting!

New Jamglue Features and Remix Contest!

Dear Jamgluers,

Your faithful Jamglue team has been working tirelessly since our invite-only beta back in October to add some new bells and whistles to help enhance the Jamglue experience.

If you haven’t checked us out in awhile, here’s what we’ve been up to:

  • Looking for a little Jamglue 101? Check out our new and improved tour and help page!
  • Want to immediately find out what’s been happening with your stuff on Jamglue? Our new message notification system (the envelope icon in the top right of the page) lets you know immediately when exciting things happen (like somebody becoming a fan of yours or using one of their tracks in their mix). If you’re really dedicated to the cause, you can choose to receive these messages by email as well.
  • Want to tell your friend what your REALLY think of their new remix? We’ve added a private messaging feature that lets you send notes to your friends without embarrassing them in front of that cute guy or girl with the hot mix.
  • Not ready for the world to hear your musical genius? We’ve added a new “draft mode” that lets you choose exactly when other people can start listening to your mixes.
  • Can’t wait to spread the Jamglue love? We’ve created an embeddable player for all your blog and MySpace needs. Even better, we also keep track of where your music is embedded (and send you a message immediately when your stuff gets embedded somewhere new)!
  • Want to share your music with people who don’t have accounts on Jamglue yet? No problem! We now let unregistered users use Jamglue (with the catch that they need to create an account before saving mixes or uploading tracks).

Good enough for ya? Well, there’s even more good news! We’ve partnered with Nettwerk Records to bring you an exclusive remix contest for Jamglue users! Starting today through January 6th, log on to Jamglue to create your own remix of The Submarines track “Peace & Hate.” The acclaimed LA-based band is giving the power to the fans to create their own remix of the group’s new single. If the chance for Jamglue fame and glory doesn’t entice you, maybe the cool prizes will.

Featured Jams, Vol. IV

Great mixes keep popping up on Jamglue. Here are some recent highlights:

Take Five by tiny avatar akalin
Take Five is a classic jazz piece that’s now in the public domain. That means that talented pianists like akalin can freely distribute recordings of their own performances of it. This is ripe for remixing!

tiny avatar Fire and Ice prayer by tiny avatar wisefool
The Fire and Ice Prayer is a poem by Robert Frost that’s now in the public domain. As part of the LibriVox project, many people have submitted public domain recordings of themselves reciting the poem. This remix overlays several of their performances in a clever call-and-answer style.

tiny avatar Jus’ Chill - Tomaz by tiny avatar Tomaz
This mix seems carefully crafted to make me laugh. It bears a simple message, hammered home persistently through slick edits over good background beats. But it’s also mysterious– to whom is this message addressed? What were the circumstances that inspired it? I’m eagerly awaiting a follow-up to this one, though it may raise more new questions than it answers.
